hugo beware fellowshipsDr. Hugo García Vázquez, a researcher from the Institute for Applied Microelectronics (IUMA) at the ULPGC has received the BEWARE (BElgium WAllonia REsearch) FELLOWSHIPS Academia.

This programme aims to promote the mobility of highly qualified foreign researchers towards Wallonia. It focuses on technology transfer and permits researchers to perform a research stay in a French-speaking University, in partnership with a Walloon company. Over the period covered by the mandate (18-36 months), six months must be spent in a company.

This programme is co-funded by the European Commission through the COFUND programme of the Marie Curie Actions. The project has a duration of three years, and it starts in November 2014 with the incorporation of Dr. García Vázquez into the company nSilition for a period of one year to be followed up by him joining the Service of Electronics and Microelectronics at the University of Mons (UMONS).

nSilition is a leadibewareng analog and mixed-signal ASICs/SoCs and semiconductor IP provider. nSilition specializes in the development of industrial quality circuits, with expertise in mixed-signal, high-speed and/or low power analog and full-custom digital circuitry.

In this project, integrated circuits capable of capturing energy from radiofrequency signals like television, mobile and WIFI signals will be developed. Once captured, the signals will be transformed and stored for future use such as providing power supplies for different electronic products.
